Beautifying homes in lower income areas one window at a time!
2026 fundraising goal
0%Our mission
Our mission – To give back to the community by beautifying neighborhoods one window at a time. Windows are the eyes to the world they see and are seen before any other part of the home. Operation Open Blinds replaces old window dressings with new shades at no cost to residents in lower income areas via an online lottery and fundraising! These window coverings will protect homes from UV Rays, lowers room temperature and add natural beauty to each home adding to community pride! When residents see a beautifying change with their neighbors…they want it or at least want to look better, contributing to community spirit in a healthy and cost efficient way! We replace aging and cracked window coverings with beautiful, UV Ray treated shades that enhance neighborhood pride and lower room temperatures which conserves energy. “Beautifying homes in lower income areas one window at a time!”
Impact story
I went on a call to provide a window blinds quote for a home in a lower income area where an elderly African-American grandma lived in a clean, decent home and she loved our blinds but could not afford them. I left but her elegant elderly manner reminded me of my grandma who lived to 104! This thought stayed with me for sometime and I asked my CEO what we could do and while he lowered the price it was not enough so I had everyone in my son's company Bargain Blinds contribute and I wound up paying for most of it...but when I informed her that she had a set of brand new Roller Shades coming her way at no cost...her hands coming to her face with a mixture of joy and sad excitement made my week! ...it felt so fantastic to do this that Operation Open Blinds was born. It took me a while to get started with all the details...website, IRS, Logos, Mailers etc but I finally got it finished and now we want to do that same thing for more families in lower income neighborhoods! And we can also install storm shutters for home protection!
