Our mission is to offer comprehensive support to vulnerable animals. This includes rescuing, adopting, and facilitating access to veterinary care and food. Through dedicated efforts, innovative solutions and strategic partnerships, we are shaping a future where every companion animal finds a nurturing home free from mistreatment and hunger and receives the devoted care they deserve. We are committed to addressing the needs of at-risk animals and their dedicated families, ensuring a brighter future for these cherished companions

Impact story

For a family in crisis, an empty pet food bowl can represent an impossible decision: feed themselves, fill a prescription, pay the electric bill or surrender the pet they love. 2026 has been a very difficult year for everyone and the number of animal surrenders due to financial crisis is growing. Animal House Project exists so families do not have to make that choice. Between 2013 and the end of 2024, our Companion Pet Food Pantry, Rescue Pet Food Pantry, and Disaster Pet Relief Program distributed more than 9.5 million pounds of food and supplies on razor thin donations. Thousands of dogs and puppies have also been rescued, cared for, and placed in loving homes. But our impact cannot be measured in pounds alone. It is measured in the breast cancer survivor preparing to enter a clinical trial, knowing she would lose the income her family depended upon. Her hospital contacted Animal House Project with one request: help feed her three dogs so she could focus on fighting for her life not on the fear of losing the animals who gave her comfort through it all. It is measured in the devastation left behind by Hurricane Helene. Partner rescues across North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee were overwhelmed, their communities shattered and their supplies disappearing. Animal House Project issued an urgent call to our pet food partners. Together, we sent five tractor-trailer loads of food and essential supplies two to western North Carolina, two to Georgia, and one to eastern Tennessee to help animals and the people desperately trying to protect them. It is measured in the local rescues who depend on Animal House Project to supply donated food so that any monies they raise can be used for Veterinary Bills. It is also measured in the families escaping domestic violence with little more than the clothes they are wearing. Too often, survivors delay leaving because they cannot take their pets with them and fear what will happen if they leave them behind. For more than a decade, Animal House Project has helped relocate families and their dogs, provided emergency shelter, and supplied the food, crates, leashes, bedding, and other necessities needed to reach safety. Sometimes, saving an animal means finding that animal a new home. Sometimes, it means making sure the animal never has to lose the home and family they already love. Behind every bag of food, every emergency placement, and every journey to safety is a person facing one of the most frightening moments of their life and a beloved animal depending on us to show up. Your donation helps us show up. It keeps food in empty bowls. It keeps pets out of already overcrowded shelters. It helps survivors escape abuse without abandoning a beloved companion. It allows rescuers to respond when disaster strikes. Most importantly, it keeps families together when everything else in their lives is falling apart.
